22 Oct PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
As I write this, my final President’s message, and reflect on all that has happened over the past 18 months, what stands out the most is the level of volunteerism and generosity in our wonderful community. I have worked with too many volunteers on too many projects to name them all but one example is the recent joint project between the FHA and Fearrington Cares to organize on, very short notice, a collection effort on for the relief of Hurricane Florence victims.
The Fearrington community really came through and demonstrated that generosity and volunteer spirit. Forty-four volunteers pitched in to make this event happen and 185 generous Fearrington residents drove by and contributed supplies. Our truck, driven by a volunteer to the warehouse in Raleigh for distribution to Eastern North Carolina, was loaded with:
135 (33 gallon) bags of paper goods, such as paper towels, diapers and bathroom tissue
131 large boxes of food, personal hygiene items, and cleaning supplies
85 cases of bottled water, 29 mops, and many buckets
In addition, residents contributed $3,000: 12 checks totaling $1,685 to the American Red Cross and 12 checks totaling $1,315 to the Salvation Army. Thank you, fellow Fearrington residents.
With this newsletter you received a ballot with a slate of Fearrington homeowners who have volunteered to run for positions on the 2019 FHA Board. YOUR VOTE COUNTS. Please fill out your ballot (one per household) and drop it off at the Gathering Place. (You can bring it when you vote on Election Day) If the Gathering Place is closed, you can put it in the mailbox at the back door. Extra Ballots will be available in the Gathering Place.
Volunteers are starting to put together the 2019 Fearrington Homeowners Directory and Handbook. Please make sure your information is up to date by checking your listing on the FHA website: www.fearringtonfha.org. Choose the Directory tab. Please remind your friends who live in Galloway Ridge to do the same. If you belong to an organization listed in the directory, make sure your information is up to date as well at www.groups@fearringtonfha.org.
NOTE: Contact information in the Directory is privileged and not for use in mass mailings.
