About the FYC

The Fearrington Yacht Club is basically a social club whose purpose is to make friends and have a good time.

The  Club was established in the early 1990’s when some Fearrington neighbors got together to sail remote controlled motor boats in the pool in the off season. In 1995 the Gals of the group organized the first Chowder Dinner and the club has grown from there.

The club has grown to an average of 150 members per year making it the largest social group in Fearrington Village. It is open to residents of Fearrington Village and Galloway Ridge. No yacht is required but you must enjoy having a good time.   The annual dues have remained $10 per person.

While the club no longer sails boats in the pool the Chowder Dinner has remained a staple of our social events. The club now sponsors 2 trips a year, usually within a day’s drive of Fearrington, and two parties: The Spring Fling and the Fall Chowder Dinner. Members volunteer to organize these events.

The Club has a Leadership Team of two Co-commodores and a Treasurer.
