north carolina museum

Shelly Crisp will lead 10:30 and 11:30 lecture/tours in the Rodin Collection, with connections to Dante’s “Inferno”. Crisp, a docent since 2010 at the North Carolina Museum of Art, was executive director of the NC Humanities Council, and a former professor of English literature.

“Steeped in Hell”, first inspired by Dante’s Inferno, was not cast until 1925 and remained a work-in-progress for 37 years. “The Thinker” and “The Kiss” were originally conceived as small parts of The Gates of Hell.  Hear the entire saga of the long evolution of this inspired work. Tour limited to 12 people for each lecture. Lunch follows at the Iris Cafe.
