Fearrington Dog Club

Fearrington Dog Club

The goal of the Fearrington Dog Club is to learn about dogs and the pleasures of sharing our lives with them. Our meetings feature presentations on a range of topics from training and health to enrichment activities and dog culture. It is also our objective to foster social connections among fellow canine enthusiasts. We meet at The Gathering Place most months.

We’re glad you found us.

latest news from our club

The Dog Club is on summer hiatus following our final yearly meeting held on May 16th. Watch for our return mid-August when you’ll receive our Application for Membership for the 2024-2025 club year. We’ll also announce our first meeting topic at the same time. We plan to continue hosting our meetings on the 3rd Thursday of most months between September and May.

Did you just discover our Dog Club? To be added to our club’s distribution list, send an e-mail request to Ann Melchior at amelchior@verizon.net. Once you are added, you will receive all club announcements by e-mail.

With summer’s heat upon us, it’s time to bump your dog walking to early or late in the day to avoid the hot sun and burning asphalt. Running errands? Leave your dogs at home, because it’s too darn hot here in NC to leave dogs in cars, even with the windows wide open. Be safe; stay cool.

general meeting information

We have reserved the Big Room at The Gathering Place for the 3rd Thursday of most months, September – May. Our meetings run from 1:00-2:30 p.m. with doors opening at 12:45 p.m.

People only: Our meetings are for canine enthusiasts, so leave your dog at home (with a nicely stuffed Kong perhaps?). In keeping with the ADA and NC law, only service animals are permitted in The Gathering Place.

Club Membership

Any Fearrington or Galloway Ridge resident with an interest in learning more about dogs is welcome. Feel free to sample one of our meetings. Thereafter, we ask that you join and become a club member. • Members have the opportunity to learn about the latest advancements in canine training, behavior and health/medicine.
  • Members receive nametags to wear at meetings, which will encourage friendships to form.
  • You will be invited to submit photos of your dog(s) to be included in slideshows we play before our meetings.
  • You will have the satisfaction of knowing you helped defray our club’s cost for room rental, guest speaker gifts and other club costs.

our club's history

Early 2021 a few of us, recognizing that many Village residents shared their homes with dogs, decided to form a club. Our goals: To improve the lives of our dogs by increasing our knowledge of canine behavior. And, at the same time, make new friends. After delays brought on by Covid, we launched in September 2022.
