Important News About Briar Chapel

As many of you know, we have been in close contact with the team doing development over at Briar Chapel, Newland Communities. We have been working with them on some of the issues regarding storm water management as well as burning on the parcel of land next to 15-501. We invited Lee Bowman, of Newland, to talk to the FHA Board in January, he will also come the FHA’s first Board meeting in April [April 3rd].

They are working with Chatham County to modify their Compact Community Ordinance [COO] / Conditional Use Permit [CUP]. The proposal which will be made available soon, will request an additional 150 multi family units along the property that boarders Fearrington. It will not increase the footprint of space they plan to develop on, rather this is a change to what they plan to develop.

They are going to have an informational open house on March 28th to explain the changes, and Lee will come to Fearrington on April 3 and present to the FHA.

A letter (click to view it) is in process of going out to property owners who directly adjoin the land adjacent to the property on 15-501. I do encourage all interested property owners in Fearrington to join the meeting on March 28th and listen to what they are proposing.

The county hearing will be on April 17th.
