Meeting About New Fitch Development

Meeting About New Fitch Development

A few months ago, representatives of the FHA Board were informed that Fitch Creations had purchased approximately 52 acres of land, zoned for one acre lots, just south of the Village’s newest streets (Richmond, Montgomery, Forsyth, and Halifax). Because this land was not part of the original approval for Fearrington Village, they said they would have to go through Chatham County’s entire planning process.

Recently, signs were posted near the Millcroft mail kiosk saying there would be a meeting at the Barn in the Village Center on Tuesday, June 28th at 6:30 pm. The signs did not provide much information, so several residents emailed the Board to find out what the signs were referring to. Unfortunately, we had not been told about this meeting, but after speaking with the Fitches we have learned that the county requires them to host such a gathering to share their preliminary plans for this new land and receive input from residents.

The 41 new homes the Fitches are seeking approval to build will become a new neighborhood of the Village. Wastewater will be provided by Fitch Utilities (capacity is available), but there will be an impact on our existing amenities and infrastructure, which raises several concerns. Members of the Board will be attending the meeting, but we encourage other residents to go as well since this is an opportunity to learn more and share their thoughts.
