President’s Report:

Adopt-a-Highway Program: After eight years Bev and Ray Andrews have decided to discontinue management of the Adopt-a-Highway program. Ann Beirne and Chuck Waldron have agreed to replace the Andrews. The President expressed the gratitude of the community for the Andrews years of service and to Ann and Chuck for accepting this responsibility.

Potential Scams: Recently a resident contracted and paid for tree-trimming service but the work was not completed. Residents should be cautious about hiring people who ask for full payment before a service is completed. Before contracting for service, residents should try to get recommendations from other residents.

Covenants: The President provided some background regarding FHA covenants and the covenants of the various service areas. The FHA covenants are being pulled together so they will be readily available to those needing to refer to them.

Vice President: Joe Mottola reported that the Nominating committee has developed a full slate of candidates for the November election. The list of candidates and their resumes will be published in the September newsletter.

Health, Safety & Security: Bob Maarschalkerweerd asked residents to be sure their house numbers are visible from the street so emergency responders can easily locate their house. Bob discussed the resident File of Life emergency contact data and urged residents to post the file in a visible place in the house, such as on the refrigerator.

Communications: Marji Maarschalkerweerd reported that planning for the 2014 Directory has begun. Residents were asked to be sure their Directory data are up to date. Marji explained how residents can update their information on the FHA web site.
