26 Nov President’s Message – December 2014
As a relatively new resident…four-and-a-half years…I spent much of my time in the beginning watching my garden grow and driving the back roads of our county. There’s only so much looking one can do before it seems more important to become involved in the community. Among those involvements was becoming Vice President/President elect of the Board. Thanks to superb fellow Board members and the tutelage of Joe Mottola, I look forward to my year as President.
This is a wonderful community but it is also a community that is growing and will continue to do so. Our facilities may at some point be unable to adequately serve our residential capacity. R B Fitch does a fine job at keeping the community a place in which people want to live. Without the consistent efforts of our resident volunteers, however, many of the amenities of which we are so fond can fall by the wayside. The strength of this community will always lie in the willingness of our residents to become involved.
I have learned this past year, that the job of President is multi-directional and certainly not without challenge. He or she may exist in the present, but there is always a need to consider the future beyond their tenure. I do have some goals. Among these are: finding ways to communicate effectively and expeditiously with you, our residents, and to help keep you cognizant of what is happening around us (e.g., Briar Chapel’s multi-use plans abutting our community and Chatham Park’s growth and effects) not only as news events but also to provide, as much as possible, a voice of our community’s interests, and with the aid of the Board maintain the quality of the community in which we live.
