11 Dec Small Fire at Fitch Dump
Fitch Creations notified the Board on Saturday, December 11 that there is, once again, a fire at their stump dump. While small in size, it has generated a fair amount of smoke. The fire department has already set up their equipment, and they expressed their belief that the fire would take about two days to put out completely.
As many of you will remember, there was a sizable fire at the stump dump about two years ago. The Board heard about it from residents who were concerned about the smoke. The Fitches subsequently took all the steps the fire department told them to take to prevent another fire, but, unfortunately, it has been extremely dry the last few months. The whole state is under a burn ban as a result.
Unlike last time, Greg Fitch reached out to us right away to let us know of the fire, and we, in turn, want to notify all of you. The fire should not pose a risk to residents, but Greg did ask us to remind residents not to go to the stump dump to “see” the fire, as that could be dangerous and could impede the work of those who are trying to put the fire out.
We will post updates if there are any significant changes in these circumstances.
