21 Mar Women of Fearrington Boutique and Live Auction
Get set for the Benefit Boutique Sale and Live Auction on Wednesday, April 9 in the Barn. Auctioneer Jon Lambert, owner of Mebane Auction House, will preside over the 80-item Live Auction, which will begin promptly at 6 p.m. The action, however, begins much earlier. At noon, the Boutique and Cafe will open. Lunch will be served from noon until 2:30 p.m. The Boutique, offering an array of beautiful items–including crystal and glass from Finnish artists, original art work, framed prints and other goodies–will continue until 4 p.m. Relax and enjoy wine and appetizers from 4 to 6 p.m., but only after you register as a bidder. The auction bidder registration will open at 4 p.m. and continue until 6 p.m. The auction preview begins at 5 p.m. Feast your eyes on the items to be auctioned before Lambert opens the auction promptly at 6 p.m. There will also be multiple opportunities to purchase raffle tickets from noon to 6 p.m. Did the mention of raffle tickets pique your curiosity? “What’s being raffled?” you ask. A 40″ Samsung TV, DPAC Mamma Mia Tickets with a VIP package, Wine Basket with BINGO Ticket, and finally, a Folk Art bench by Carol Kurtz that heralds spring with a white bunny on one end of the bench opposite a bright orange carrot on the other end. Participants in this FUNdraising day are asked to bring items to add to our food basket for CORA.
Lively bidding is expected on a number of items: for example, the four pens handcrafted from rare woods by Art Gerber that are perfect for the college graduate or young entrepeneur in your life. An antique parlor settee (1880s) for that empty space in your parlor. Mikimoto International spoons each topped by a 3 1/2 mm Mikimoto pearl, an original painting, “Boats in Storm”, by Joany Earke Condoret (oil on wood), a Mark Hewitt pitcher, an old English Stained Glass window, an opportunity to spend a week in a Bedford, Westchester, NY townhouse with Grand Central Station in NYC just a brief hour away by train, or a vintage Masonic Ceremonial Presentation Knights Templar Sword. Just think about what other treasures might be offered during the Auction. | {module [158]} |
Members of organizations that received grants will be present during the day helping all of us understand how WoF Grants have helped Chatham county residents in the past. Don’t miss this wonderful event that will raise funds for projects submitted by not-for-profit organizations that serve women and children in Chatham County to the WoF Grants Committee. These organizations need your help since increased need has severely impacted our County’s resources. Bring your checkbook, cash and yes, even credit cards (VISA, MasterCard and American Express) will be accepted. And don’t forget to bring canned goods for CORA.
Auction organizers are still filling staff positions for all aspects of the sale. Please consider volunteering for set-up teams, sales floor attendants, cashiers, presenters and many more positions. Set-up work will begin at 8 a.m. on the day of the event. Please help to ensure that WoF can continue or increase its support of programs for women and children in Chatham County. We hope you come to the next WoF meeting on Wednesday, March 19 at 2:30 p.m. prepared to volunteeer.
